Compatible with OS X 10.10 Yosemite, OS X 10.11 El Capitan, macOS 10.12 Sierra, macOS 10.13 High Sierra, macOS 10.14 Mojave, and macOS 10.15 Catalina; Okay, let's get the steps below to extract ISO files on Mac in minutes. Download and launch Cisdem BetterUnarchiver on your Mac. Download free trial of Cisdem BetterUnarchiver for Mac now. In 1984, Apple debuted the operating system that is now known as the 'Classic' Mac OS with its release of the original Macintosh System Software. The system, rebranded 'Mac OS' in 1996, was preinstalled on every Macintosh until 2002 and offered on Macintosh clones for a short time in the 1990s. The built-in Disk Utility app on Mac does allow you to do some basic actions including burning ISO to USB or CD/DVD disc, but there are many limitations. As such, it's much better to choose a third-party application that can effortlessly do the job of burning an ISO file (bootable and non-bootable) to a physical disk or a USB drive.

Please Note: Windows 7 and 8 are no longer supported due to problems with graphic board drivers. If you still need old Windows versions please use only cards and drivers from 2015 and earlier.

Platform Windows

  • MS Windows 10 x64

Server versions are not supported but if you use them on your own risk please note that due to the multi-user capability of the included terminal server an Imaris floating license is required. With all configurations, using a 4K or larger monitor at full resolution will reduce live interaction FPS.

Using Imaris in Windows Remote Desktop (RDP) Sessions

If you are using Windows 10 Build 1903 and newer, you can use Imaris in Windows Remote Desktop session (RDP) if you have an nVidia Quadro card of at least the M-Series. Remote Desktop session with AMD cards of any series (Radeon, RadeonPro or FirePro) will also work with the Windows build 1903 and newer. The oldest AMD card we have tested successfully in with RDP is a FirePro V7900 (released in 2011).

nVidiasGeforce and Titan cards do not support OpenGL acceleration in RDP sessions on any Windows version (Info March 2020). There is no known way (not even with ‘gpedit') to make this work.

If you are using earlier Windows 10 build (180x and earlier) or Windows 7/8 or 8.1, the only way to get Imaris working in RDP sessions is to use an nVidia Quadro M-Series or newer (e.g. M4000, P4000,..). The Quadro card driver supports OpenGL in RDP independent of the Windows version.

If your system configuration of Windows and graphics card does not support OpenGL acceleration, you can try if another remote desktop solution, like TeamViewer, Anydesk or the like, will work for you. Please, consult your IT department before installing one of these other remote desktop solutions as there might be network restrictions in place, that prevent these tools from working properly.

Platform MAC

  • Mac OS X 10.12 - 10.15*

*To install on 10.15 please use Finder's contextual ‘Open' command

Please note rendering mode Surfaces - Slice is disabled on macOS. With all configurations, using a 4K or 5K monitor at full resolution will reduce live interaction FPS.

ClearView Deconvolution

Imaris Preferences will show the user the supported GPU processing mode: CUDA or OpenCL. Up-to-date graphics card drivers are required for GPU-accelerated deconvolution.

NVIDIA cards with driver 411.31 or later will use CUDA for the processing. All AMD cards and NVIDIA cards running older drivers will use OpenCL.

Older machines or graphics cards may not support GPU-accelerated deconvolution. CPU deconvolution will be used instead.

Tested Graphics Accelerator Boards

Incompatible graphics boards often cause instability and lead to decreased Imaris performance. It is recommended to install and use the latest drivers specified on website(s) of the graphic board's vendor(s).

Multi-GPU solutions for graphics boards (SLI and Crossfire) are NOT supported.

Imaris ClearView supports CUDA and OpenCL beside CPU based processing. It shows best performance on CUDA. CUDA needs an NVIDIA driver of version 411.31 (date 2018.9.27) or later. CUDA does not work on macOS 10.14 since Apple does not support it, it uses OpenCL instead.

The Nvidia Geforce Boards work, but have slower graphics. The Quadro boards are recommended when stereo displays will be attached and for remote access. If you go for a high-end graphic board (no matter gaming or professional) please be sure your machine has a strong enough power supply and it fits physically into the case.

Newer boards are shown on top of each list.

Multi Core/Processor Support

Imaris has been expanding support for multi core/processor machines since version 6.2.0. Currently, most image processing functions are multithreaded. Tests are done with up to 8 cores where Imaris still scales nicely.

Matlab for XTensions

The Matlab XTensions (plugins) installed by default with Imaris only need Matlab and no additional Matlab Toolboxes. This XTensions are available as compiled (.exe) and not compiled (.m-file) versions. To run the compiled version a free Matlab Runtime is sufficient.

For the XTensions made available by the Imaris community on open.bitplane.com please check the prerequisites in the description of the XTension.
